303,100 Chevy Impalas gets recalled over Seat Belt Malfunction Risks.

Chevrolet is recalling 303,100 Impala cars in the U.S. for the good reason for the passengers. Impalas are recalled due to seat belts in the front seat may not be properly anchored and may not restrain passengers in a crash.

Chevy said that it will reinstall seat-belt anchors in the Impala for model years 2009 and 2010 that have the defect, according to a letter on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Web site today.

“If it occurs, the belt can separate in a crash, so it's obviously something we need to get taken care of,” Alan Adler, a GM spokesman, said in an interview. “It separates at the anchor to the lower part of the seat.”

No injuries are associated with the defect, which GM discovered through warranty reports, he said.

PRESS RELEASE: GM Recalls Impalas to Inspect Safety Belt Anchors

DETROIT -- General Motors is recalling 322,409 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2009 and 2010 model years to inspect for a small number of vehicles whose front seat belt webbing may not have been properly secured to the lap belt anchor pretensioner mounted to the side of the seat nearest the door.

Vehicles with this condition may have an anchor that can separate in a crash, and therefore may not meet the anchor strength requirements of the U.S. and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard that covers seat belt assembly anchorages.

Dealers will inspect both front seat belts for proper installation of anchors to pretensioners and, if necessary, reinstall the anchors. GM knows of no injuries or deaths related to this condition. Customers will be notified on or around Oct. 25 by mail to bring their vehicles in free inspection. Any repairs related to this condition will be done free of charge.

Ford recalls its Windstar minivans over it doubt on axle-fracture

Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling 575,000 Windstar minivans in the U.S. and Canada because rear axles may corrode and break.

The voluntary recall affects 1998 to 2003 model-year Windstars in areas where road salt is used in cold weather, according to a notice today on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Web site.

“After many years of vehicle service in these areas, corrosion can weaken the rear axle, making it susceptible to torsional stress,” Ford said in a report posted on NHTSA’s site.

Ford has received about 950 complaints alleging cracking in the rear axle, including seven that resulted in accidents causing three injuries, Said Deep, a Ford spokesman, said in a telephone interview.

The company will repair the recalled vehicles free of charge by installing brackets to reinforce the rear axle, Ford said in the statement.

The U.S. auto-safety agency opened an investigation into the defect in May after receiving 234 complaints alleging rear-axle failures.

Volvo S80 (2007-10) recalled for tire-pressure monitoring system

Volvo European car maker and ever-conscious safety fanatics at Volvo have realized that there is some thing wrong with their 2007-2010 S80 sedans. It seems that the maximum permissible tire pressure information was printed incorrectly in the owner's manuals and on the sticker pasted to the vehicles' door jams. Worse, that same incorrect inflation data is hard-coded into the cars' tire-pressure monitoring systems.

Volvo claims that it has never received any complaints on the issue and that it found the problem on its own. Naturally, though, the Swedish automaker is keenly interested in getting the problem rectified and will replace the incorrect manuals and stickers, and update the S80's software to correct the tire-pressure monitoring system.

Recall information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration after the break. Owners are urged to call Volvo at 1-800-458-1552 or email customercare -at- volvoforlife.com for further information.

Volvo XC90 under NHTSA scanner for Lightning Flaws.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is investigating older versions of Volvo XC90 models for potential faulty electronics that could cause the headlights and turn signals to fail. So far, the government isn't aware of any crashes resulting from the fault, but 21 owners have filed a complaint. The defect manifests itself on 2004-2005 XC90 SUVs, and NHTSA says that 93,487 vehicles are potentially impacted by the problem.

The defect isn’t linked to crashes or injuries, NHTSA said. The model years include about 93,487 vehicles, according to the regulator. When the unit controlling the electronic parts was replaced, the flaws were corrected, the agency said, citing the complainants.

“We will provide all the information that NHTSA asks and we’ll work closely with the agency to make sure the issue is resolved,” said James Hope, a U.S.-based Volvo spokesman.

Nissan Patrol to be recalled, citing electrical problems that could affect the engine's fuel supply.

Nissan has issued a notification to recall for its Patrol model which they had sold more than thousand units in the Middle East, citing electrical problems that could affect the engine's fuel supply leading to engine stalls.

According to Monal Zeidan, the general manager of marketing and communications for Nissan Middle East, there are problems with an integrated circuit inside the vehicle's electronic control module (ECM). Zeidan goes on to say that if the ECM fails the fuel injectors could stop working and the engine may stop. Owners of the 1,250 affected vehicles in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are being asked to visit their dealerships to have a revised ECM installed.

Nissan recalls 51,100 Cubes for fire risk

(Reuters) Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 51,100 Cube compacts in North America after U.S. safety regulators said a fuel leak could cause fire after a crash, the regulator and the automaker said on Monday.

The chance that 2009 and 2010 model year Cubes could leak fuel if struck from the rear at 50 miles per hour led to the recall, documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show.

Last week, Nissan suspended sales and shipments of Cubes from Japan to the United States and Canada. Markets outside North America are not affected, said Nissan spokesman Colin Price.

Nissan said no injuries or crashes have been reported in relation to the issue with Cube, a quirky box-shaped compact sedan.

Sales and production will resume once a manufacturing fix is in place. Price said Nissan was working with its suppliers on the manufacturing fix.

The Cube failed a NHTSA test in which it is struck from the rear at 50 mph (80 kph). Fuel leaked when the Cube was put on its side after the impact, the tests showed.

Cube owners will be notified by late August to bring their vehicles to Nissan dealers for a fix. The fix involves installing a protective device for the fuel filler recirculation tube in the fuel neck of the vehicle.

Subaru recall 2010/2011 Legacy and Outback due to programming error.

Subaru has announced a third recall on its new Legacy sedan and Outback vehicles manufactured from April 28 through June 23, 2010, because an oil lubrication hole was not drilled on the 6-speed manual transmission.

The automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that hole was omitted "due to a programming error".

According to the safety agency, because the transmission gears are not properly lubricated, the gears will eventually break. NHSTA added that a groaning sound may begin to develop alerting the driver of the problem.

Subaru said dealers will repair the vehicles by drilling an oil lubrication hole and, if necessary, replace any damaged internal parts with new ones free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or about August 6, 2010.

BMW 5-Series GT to be recalled due to Fuel Gauge problem ?

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had cautioned more than 6k BMW owners, to be exact they had cautioned  2010 and 2011 model year BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo fastbacks manufactured from January 12 through July 1, 2010 for their Car's Fuel Gauge problem which tends to show more fuel.

According to the release on NHSTA's website, the 5-Series Gran Turismo's fuel level sensor within the fuel tank can become wedged against the tank. If this occurs, then the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster will display a larger amount of fuel than what's actually in the tank.

The BMW has not yet provided details on the fix nor a any notification on the recall.

But Help Line No. had been established for the Concerned owners of the affected models at 1-800-525-7417.
