World's longest, biodiesel powered bus now runs in Brazil.

Concerned about environment, Brazil starts a bus, named Mega BRT, runs purely on Biodiesel.

The best part of this bus is it is 28-metre-long, has a passenger capacity of 250, with seats for 60 people and standing room for 190, manufactured by Volvo do Brasil.

This bus is put into service in Curitiba city.

Volvo's Air Motion concept car, powered by compressed air.

Wouldn't it be awesome if our personal transport powered by the thing which is abundant in nature and pollution free and eco-friendly ? Yeah i am talking about the AIR.

At LA Auto show, Volvo had come up with concept design car which is purely powered by compressed air.

The Air Motion Concept is powered by compressed air, and compressed air only. It’s held within a tank, and accessed when the vehicle needs power.

Since it is powered by compressed air the self weight car should be as minimum as possible. Therefore the frame is constructed from carbon fiber, weigh just 1,000 pounds. Under the hood, instead of engine designers implemented a pneumatic motor.

When asked at the LA Auto Show how you would refuel the vehicle that runs on air, Volvo said that they believe there will be wind-powered stations ready to fill up your Air Motion Concept when the time comes.

Volvo S80 (2007-10) recalled for tire-pressure monitoring system

Volvo European car maker and ever-conscious safety fanatics at Volvo have realized that there is some thing wrong with their 2007-2010 S80 sedans. It seems that the maximum permissible tire pressure information was printed incorrectly in the owner's manuals and on the sticker pasted to the vehicles' door jams. Worse, that same incorrect inflation data is hard-coded into the cars' tire-pressure monitoring systems.

Volvo claims that it has never received any complaints on the issue and that it found the problem on its own. Naturally, though, the Swedish automaker is keenly interested in getting the problem rectified and will replace the incorrect manuals and stickers, and update the S80's software to correct the tire-pressure monitoring system.

Volvo XC90 under NHTSA scanner for Lightning Flaws.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration is investigating older versions of Volvo XC90 models for potential faulty electronics that could cause the headlights and turn signals to fail. So far, the government isn't aware of any crashes resulting from the fault, but 21 owners have filed a complaint. The defect manifests itself on 2004-2005 XC90 SUVs, and NHTSA says that 93,487 vehicles are potentially impacted by the problem.

The defect isn’t linked to crashes or injuries, NHTSA said. The model years include about 93,487 vehicles, according to the regulator. When the unit controlling the electronic parts was replaced, the flaws were corrected, the agency said, citing the complainants.

“We will provide all the information that NHTSA asks and we’ll work closely with the agency to make sure the issue is resolved,” said James Hope, a U.S.-based Volvo spokesman.

Volvo V60 with its sporty five door is here. The new model from Volvo is seen as an attempt to expand its sales in the European wagon category. The new Volvo V60 is a smart take off from the S60, with the visible addition being the five-door feature. The Volvo V60 comes with eight different engines, and hopes to sell around 50k cars per year.

Four inline-four petrol engines, including two 1.6-liter units that produce up to 240 Nm of torque and either 150 or 180 horsepower (112 or 134 kW), and two 2.0-liter models that produce either 203 hp (151 kW) and 300 Nm or 240 hp (179 kW) and 320 Nm would be part of the pack. Further, the inline-six would have a 3.0-liter unit that returns 304 hp (227 kW) and up to 440 Nm. The Volvo V60 is capable of racing from 0 to 100km /h in 6.6 seconds, while the electronically-limited top speed is 250 km/h.

The Volvo V60 also comes in a diesel variant that boast of 115-hp (86 kW), 270-Nm 1.6-liter inline-four, and two inline-five engines. The first, a 2.0-liter model, is capable of 163 hp (122 kW) and up to 400 Nm, while the top diesel model burns 205 horsepower (153 kW) and up to 420 Nm.

The coupe styled roof-sporting car has been built on a new dynamic chassis for the European market. Features include collision blocking aspects, pedestrian detection, all-wheel drive, tight steering, stability control and an advanced brake system. The price is not disclosed yet by the company.

Ford gets not to sale Volvo to Geely from EU Competition Regulators

European Union competition regulators approved on Tuesday Ford Motor Co.'s sale of its Volvo premium car unit to Chinese automaker Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. and state-owned investment group Daqing.

Investigation concluded that the proposed deal would not significantly impede competition in Europe, the EU executive body said in a statement.

Geely's $1.8 billion takeover of Sweden-based Volvo was agreed in March and represents China's biggest overseas auto purchase to date.

The deal is seen as a further milestone in China's emergence as an auto powerhouse, after the country overtook the United States as the world's biggest car market last year.

The Volvo-Geely deal is expected to be finalized sometime during the Q3, Ford of Europe CEO John Fleming told the Automotive News Europe Congress late last month.
